ENCOUNTER WILDLIFE AT SERVAL CONSERVANCY

Serval Conservancy is located in Siha, Kilimanjaro, approximately 35 minutes from Kilimanjaro Airport, 90 minutes from Arusha, and 60 minutes from Moshi town.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Pickup from Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha shuttle and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Serval Wildlife Conservancy Experience

Breakfast and transfer to Serval Wildlife Conservancy, arriving at around 10:00am. The 1000-acre conservancy is home to lions, giraffes, leopards, antelopes, and other rescued wildlife that are cared for and later returned to reserves and parks.

On arrival, you will interact and feed animals under supervision of trained wardens. Expect encounters with giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, antelopes, blue monkeys, and white rhinos.

Lunch at the restaurant and continuation of animal interactions until 4:00pm. Transfer to your hotel within or near the conservancy for overnight stay.

Day 3: Hotel – Airport

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for departure flight.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Pickup from Kilimanjaro Airport, Moshi, or Arusha and transfer to a hotel in Moshi. You will be briefed by our experienced guide, have dinner, and spend the night in Moshi.

Day 2: Machame Gate (1,800m / 5,900ft)

This is the starting point where registration, park fee payments, and permit checks are done. Final gear check, briefing, and safety talk take place here.

The trek officially begins here through lush rainforest towards Machame Camp.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp

Altitude: 2,833m to 3,788m

Distance: 7 km (4 miles)

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Arrival at Shira Plateau through moorlands, crossing river gorges to Shira Cave Camp.

Day 4: Shira Cave Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Altitude: 3,788m to 4,605m then descent

Trek east toward Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. This is an important acclimatization day.

Habitat includes alpine desert with cold temperatures and strong winds.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Distance: 5 km (3 miles)

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Ascend the famous Barranco Wall, then traverse valleys and descend into Karanga Valley. Continue to Karanga Camp for acclimatization, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Distance: 4 km (2 miles)

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Trek through barren rocky terrain toward Barafu Camp, the final base before summit. Enjoy views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks when skies are clear.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)

Hiking Time: 4–6 hours ascent

Final summit attempt begins early morning. Reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend back to Barafu Camp for rest and overnight stay.

This is the coldest and most challenging part of the climb but offers the most rewarding views.

Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate

Descend to Mweka Gate, receive your climbing certificate, and sign out of the national park. A vehicle will transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi.

Encounter Wildlife at Serval Wildlife Conservancy

Serval Wildlife Conservancy is located in Siha, Kilimanjaro — approximately 35 minutes from Kilimanjaro Airport, 90 minutes from Arusha, and 60 minutes from Moshi town.

Day 2: Serval Wildlife Conservancy Experience

After breakfast, transfer to Serval Wildlife Conservancy to arrive at around 10:00 AM. The conservancy sits on 1,000 acres and is home to lions, giraffes, leopards, antelopes, zebras, wildebeest, blue monkeys, and white rhinos.

Many rescued and injured animals are cared for, rehabilitated, and returned to the wild.

Visitors can safely interact with and feed selected animals under the supervision of trained wardens. Lunch is served at the conservancy restaurant, with activities concluding at around 4:00 PM.

Transfer to your hotel within or near the conservancy for overnight stay.

Day 3: Hotel – Airport

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

Important Notes

  • Do not pet or feed animals without supervision from a warden.
  • Do not feed animals with outside food.
  • Follow all conservancy guidelines provided on arrival.
  • Ensure you are vaccinated for Yellow Fever at least 10 days before travel.

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Day 4: Shira Cave Camp → Lava Tower (4,605m) → Barranco Camp

Hike east and southeast through alpine and moorland zones with dramatic views of the Shira Plateau. Stop at Lava Tower for lunch, then descend to Barranco Camp for acclimatization.

This is a key acclimatization day with changing altitude and terrain.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3,953m) → Karanga Camp (3,972m)

Descend into the base of the Great Barranco Wall and climb the steep wall (approx. 900 ft). Continue across valleys and ridges into Karanga Valley.

Arrive at Karanga Camp for lunch, acclimatization, dinner, and overnight stay.

Distance: 5 km (3 miles)

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Day 6: Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp (4,646m)

Trek through barren, rocky alpine terrain toward Barafu Camp, the final staging point before the summit.

On clear days, views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks are visible. Rest early in preparation for summit night.

Distance: 4 km (2 miles)

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Day 7: Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak (5,895m) → Descend to Barafu

Begin the summit attempt at night, ascending to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Experience sunrise at the summit before beginning descent back to Barafu Camp for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Hiking Time: 4–6 hours ascent (plus descent)

Day 8: Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate

Descend from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate where you will receive your climbing certificate and sign out from the national park.

Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi.
